The exam assesses language skills at level A1. It consists of a written and an oral part. In the written part, candidates must solve tasks related to listening, reading, writing, and speaking. The oral exam includes holding dialogues and answering questions, among other things. At the end, participants receive a certificate confirming their language skills.
How is the telc German A1 language exam structured?
The telc A1 exam consists of a written and an oral part. The written exam lasts approximately 70 minutes.

In the writing part of the exam, for example, candidates must write simple letters and emails.
The oral exam lasts approximately 16 minutes (not including preparation time) and usually takes place on the same day. The telc A1 German exam is a group exam and is structured like a conversation or interview.
The oral exam consists of three parts. In the first part, candidates introduce themselves. Immediately afterward, participants are asked to ask questions (wh-questions or yes/no questions) on two given everyday topics using flashcards. In the third part of the telc A1 exam, candidates ask their partners for something using picture cards and then respond to a request.
